Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Karoline Leavitt

At the start of the second Trump administration in 2025, Karoline Leavitt has joined the Trump White House as the administration’s Press Secretary. She was also an administration Assistant Press Secretary in during Trump’s first term in office, having started as a Presidential Writer in 2018.

In January 2021, she started her work as director of communications for New York Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who Trump has recently appointed as the American United Nations ambassador.

In 2022, Leavitt she ran as a Republican to represent New Hampshire’s First Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Eventually, she lost to her opponent, Chris Pappas (D-NH).

Karoline Leavitt on Climate Change

During her 2022 campaign Leavitt stated, “The alleged ‘existential threat of climate change’ is a manufactured crisis by the Democrat Party to frighten the American people into supporting the passage of The Green New Deal, which is a socialist takeover of our economy and society.”

On WMUR9, Rep. Pappas debated Leavitt on climate change. In one exchange, he quoted her as calling climate change “BS”. Leavitt refuted this by calling attention to the Democrat’s plans on tackling climate change. She states, “What I think is BS is that the Democrats use the climate to pass their billion dollar pet projects in D.C., like the Inflation Reduction Act, which did include the hiring of 87,000 new IRS agents.”

Leavitt also called the Democrat’s climate change plans and policies an “agenda” in the same debate. She goes on to say, “If Congressman Pappas is elected, could you imagine two more years of this climate change energy agenda from the Democrat Party?”
