Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Carol Miller

Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV, 3rd District) was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018. She serves on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, the Oversight & Reform Committee, and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Miller on Climate Change

Carol Miller claims that she understands the nuances of climate change, and yet she is a staunch supporter of the coal industry, saying that “Coal is an essential part of a safe, secure, and affordable energy supply for the United States.”

Miller’s voting record reflects her lack of commitment to environmental issues as well, as her League of Conservation Voters lifetime score is just 7%. Perhaps the most concerning was her vote for Rep. Gosar’s amendment to H.R. 3055, which would have prohibited the EPA from recognizing the environmental and health risks of carbon dioxide as well as hinder their ability to reduce emissions. Ultimately, the House rejected Gosar’s amendment.

Miller and Friends

In the 2020 election cycle, Miller received $21,000 from coal mining PACs. In the same year, she received $14,500 from Oil and Gas PACs and $17,759 from Agribusiness PACs.

Miller votes in line with President Trump 100% of the time. She verbally supports him whenever she can, saying that, “Thanks to President Trump, our country is also safer and more secure.” Her support for him stretches from claims of ‘clean coal’ to constructing the border wall.
