Henry “Hank” Zuber III (R-113th District) is a State Representative from Mississippi. He was elected in 1999 and served in the legislature since the year 2000. In 2020, as the Chair of the Banking and Financial Services committee, he helped passed legislation which places additional penalties on individuals and groups who protest against the fossil fuel industry—what is being called “critical infrastructure”.
An article in the Huffington Post notes that, “The bill also threatens any “organization that aids, abets, solicits, compensates, hires, conspires with, commands or procures a person to commit the crime of impeding critical infrastructure” with fines of up to $100,000 and civil action from companies to recoup “damages for lost profits, whether or not any fine is imposed.”
The same article links Rep. Zuber to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the lobbying efforts of the refinery trade group the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers.
