Robert Aderholt (R-AL, 4th District) was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 1997 and has represented Alabama ever since. Aderholt received his undergraduate degree from Birmingham Southern College in 1987 and later attended Samford University Cumberland School of Law, graduating in 1990. Aderholt served as a lawyer for only two years before becoming a Judge in Haleyville, Alabama, and a delegate at the Republican National Convention. Two years later, Aderholt would run for congress and win an extremely close election against Democrat Tom Bevill. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and is a member of multiple subcommittees.
Aderholt is a public skeptic of climate change caused by human activity. In 2009 Aberholt released an article in The Daily Mountain Eagle stating, “I fall into the second group of people who believe, as do many very credible scientists, that the earth is currently in a natural warming cycle rather than a man-made climate change”.
From 2015 – 2020 Aderholt only voted for three bills that would help protect the environment. All of these bills received bipartisan support and passed in a landslide.
