Sam Kazman is the General Counsel at the Competitive Enterprise Network, and the head of the Death by Regulation project. He is a speaker at the Heartland Institute, which is a think tank that undermines climate science. Kazman has had numerous “free market environmentalism” op-eds published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and National Review.
Climate Change
Sam Kazman spoke at the Annual National Conference on Private Property Rights where he stated “you hear a lot about the claim that 97% of all scientists agree we face a global warming threat. That figure is garbage.” According to NASA, this figure is correct, and it is likely that more scientists agree we are facing a climate crisis.
Kazman has published numerous articles undermining climate science. Kazman falsely wrote that “despite steady increases in atmospheric CO2, and despite everything you’ve heard about climate catastrophe, there’s been no warming for about the last decade, and the planet has actually cooled over the last three years.” In the same article he confused weather for climate remarking, “don’t be surprised if it’s colder. Today’s forecast is for relatively low temperatures.”
Kazman has stated that climate change policies sound like law enforcement language and a “pure political attempt to push a legislative agenda.”
