Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Steven Milloy

Steven Milloy is a lawyer, lobbyist, and Fox News commentator. He is a virulent denier of all things scientific, including the health risks of second-hand smoke, DDT, ozone depletion, and of course, the existence of anthropogenic climate change, which he considers “Junk Science”.

Milloy on Climate Change

Milloy is a member of President Trump’s EPA transition team, and has been a legal opponent to the EPA for several years. He is quite vocal about his climate denial, and in 2018 he told a reporter for the New Yorker, “I do have a bias. I’m all for the coal industry, the fossil fuel industry. Wealth is what makes people happy, not pristine air, which you’ll never get.”

Milloy and Friends

In 1997, Milloy became the executive director of The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition, a front group started by Phillip Morris that aimed to disprove the science that proved cigarette smoke was detrimental to human health.

Syngenta, an agrochemical company, sent Milloy at least $25,000 in 2012 to downplay the detrimental effect of weed-killer Atrazine.

From 2013 to 2015, Milloy was the Director of External Policy and Strategy for the Murray Energy Corporation, the largest underground coal mining company in the United States.
