Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Townhall

Townhall is a conservative American website, print magazine and radio news service. It was originally started by The Heritage Foundation, and is now run by the Salem Media Group.

On Climate Change

Townhall publishes many climate change denial articles written by a variety of contributors. Though the editors note states that “the opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com,” the site’s many articles deny established climate science. Some pieces include  “‘Climate Change’ Is A Hoax” and “Climate Change Is About Control, Stupid — Not The Environment.”

As an example, “Climate Change Is Not A Crisis,” discusses how major storms and extreme temperatures are “nothing new.” The author, David Harsanyi, claims that the 1973 Texas blizzard (as well as the 2021 Texas snowstorm) were just something “that happens…there’s nothing we can do about it,” and that hurricanes that touch land aren’t any more intense than they were previously, stating that most of the damage nowadays, specifically caused by Hurricane Katrina, was caused by “how ill-prepared the city was for any storm.” Harsanyi finishes by claiming that “hurricanes are less destructive because governments and the private sector adapt and prepare.”

Outreach

Townhall reaches their consumers via their website, but also through social media, including Twitter, where their account has close to 245,000 followers.
