William L. Kovacs is a former vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in charge of environment, technology and regulatory affairs from 1998 to 2017. He hosts his own website, Reform the Kakistocracy—a term used to describe a government run by the least suitable or competent of citizens. He is also a contributing writer to the website Townhall, and has written two books: Reform the Kakistocracy and The Left’s Little Red Book on Forming a New Green Republic.
Townhall is a conservative American website, print magazine and radio news service. It was originally started by The Heritage Foundation, and is now run by the Salem Media Group. They reach their consumers via their website, but also through social media, including Twitter, where their account has close to 245,000 followers.
On Climate Change
On Kovacs’ website, there is a section for his written climate change articles. Climate change articles listed on his website include: “A Modest Proposal to Stop Climate Change (satire),” “Climate Change is About Control, Stupid, Not the Environment,” and “A Cautionary Tale on Climate Policy.”
Kovacs summarizes his view of climate change activism in his Little Red Book. He describes it as “a collection of quotes from the Left that advocate ‘capitalism must go,’ ‘truth is not relevant,’ ‘humans must go to save the planet…’” Kovacs concludes that “of the literally millions of statements by the Left on the benefits of their Green New Deal and the regulation of society to ‘reduce the impacts of climate change,’ there is not one utterance about the rights of people in a society.”
Townhall publishes many climate change denial articles written by a variety of contributors, of which Kovacs has published “Climate Change Is About Control, Stupid — Not The Environment.” Though the editors note states that “the opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com,” the site’s many articles deny established climate science.
